Cuttack Police Station IIC Beauty Mohanty Found Dead; Investigation Underway

Cuttack, July 4: Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Chauliaganj Police Station, Beauty Mohanty, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the police station premises on Saturday morning, police officials said.

According to the police, Mohanty was found hanging inside the rest room located on the top floor of the three-storey police station building.

Colleagues Found Her Unresponsive

Officials said colleagues became concerned after repeated knocks on the room went unanswered.

After forcing open the door, they found Mohanty unresponsive and immediately shifted her to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amarendra Panda said her family has been informed about the incident.

Investigation in Progress

Senior police officers rushed to the spot soon after receiving information.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage, call records and other evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to her death.

Police are also looking into whether she was facing any professional or personal issues. However, officials said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident will become clear only after the investigation is completed.

Colleagues Recall Normal Behaviour

According to colleagues, Mohanty completed her official duties on Friday night and later went to the rest room upstairs.

Police personnel who interacted with her said her behaviour appeared normal during the day and they had not noticed anything unusual.

One colleague said he last saw her at around 9.30 pm on Friday.

Senior Officers Monitoring Probe

The investigation is being personally monitored by the Cuttack DCP.

Beauty Mohanty had earlier served as Inspector-in-Charge of Pahala Police Station, Markatnagar Police Station, and the Mahila Police Station before being posted to Chauliaganj Police Station.

Police said further details would be shared after the investigation progresses.
